›› What to Know Before You Shop for a Loan
Never give your information to one company that shops your loan to
many different banks for you!
Why? When you are shopping for a loan, any more than three inquiries
into your credit history will drop your credit rating score.
Many of these companies screw up, and by the time they are done your
credit history can receive more than ten inquiries and your score can drop
over 200 points. Say from 800, which is perfect, to 600, which is almost the
pits. This can take months to fix and you may loose your dream home in the
process.
I suggest you call one mortgage lender, find out your score and shop around.
They will try to insist they need your social security number upfront. Tell
them no and why, they will work with you on your most recent info and wait for
your SS# number once you are ready to commit. Once your are ready to
commit to a bank, then give them your information.
